ChatGPT developer OpenAI is expanding its product's functionalities to keep it ahead of the competition, including the ability to speak with users and have a conversation.
The company announced on Monday that it was updating its iOS and Android apps so that the artificial intelligence-powered product can speak directly to users. The product will be able to speak out loud in five different voices in a similar way that Siri or Alexa operates, but it will sound far more human than its predecessors."You can now use voice to engage in a back-and-forth conversation with your assistant," OpenAI wrote in a blog post.
The feature will only be available for ChatGPT's paid users in the next two weeks. The rest of ChatGPT's users will get the new feature"soon after," according to the developer.OpenAI has given it a voice and, yes, it sounds eerily like a real human.— Joanna Stern September 25, 2023
